Lil-O-Me (Week 1)

My name is Elesia Moncrease. I was born in the south, but raised in Connecticut all my life. However, those Southern values remain the same. This is my Senior year at Albertus, my major is Social Science, and I am not ashame to say I am glad it is almost over...LOL. It took lots of hard work, discpline, and a good oh fashion strap (just kidding), but seriously, a lot of work, dedication, and motivation. My main motorvators my children and the desire to live that "Good Ole American Fashion Dream." I have two handsome sons, of course a mother would say that. They are ten and seven years old; they are true WWF (which to them is the old days), now apparently it is WWE or ECW, fans. So as you know when there's no school night, guess what I am watching, when I am not bombarded with homework :-). I currently work with trouble youths, who are also like my children, because of the relationship I have established with them. I worked in the education field for 8 years and hope to do so a couple more. I want to relocate back to the south, to enjoy the fruits of country life-peace, hospitality, homestyle cooking etc. Well I can go on for hours, however, I am going to spare your time. I hope we have a wonderful experience and I look forward to meeting everyone. GOOD LUCK!

Hello Everyone,

Some of you may know me as that crazy coordinator in ADP office and for those of you who don't, everything you've heard is probably true. I have been working at AMC for 4 years now. I graduated from the day program in 199? and went on to get my MA from Fairfield University. I am the mother of an 8 year old boy named Zephaniah and I love him to death. I am a die hard Yankees and Patriots fan. For all you Red Sox fans, I know, I know, you won it all...now be quiet it's football season!

I hope to develop a better "eye" for taking pictures once I have completed this course. Since I absolutely HATE having pictures taken of me, this self portrait was almost my undoing. So, here it is and I hope you like it.

Lisa Aguayo

Hi Everyone,

My name is Lisa Aguayo. I'm a Sr. and am ready to graduate! I'm looking forward to using my creativity to learn how to create fabulous photos.

I am a student at night, a Program Manager by day, a mother (all the time) and this week, A BRIDE TO BE!!!! I'm getting married on Sunday and am crazy busy! So, this photo is the best I could come up with for now. It's actually the first time I have ever uploaded a picture so hopefully I did it right! I was trying to be a bit more creative but if you can't tell, I'M TIRED and I think I'm coming down with a cold...so, this was the best I could do for now!

Looking forward to meeting you all and seeing the pictures we all come up with this MOD!

Jessica Sandler

Hi Everyone!! Some of you already know me! This is my 3rd class with Jerry. I love photography. When I took Digital Photography 1 in the summer I really enjoyed "finding myself". I love the challenge of looking beyond what we normally see. I hope I can do the same this mod.

A little about me. I am a wife and mommy. The two best jobs in the world. I am also a manager...it pays the bills. My son is 18 months old. He and his step brother are usually the subjects of most of my work when I am not in class mode!

I look foward to learning from everyone!

Here is a pic I took of myself a few weeks ago. I was going to a concert with my husband. I wasn't feeling "frumpy" so I decided to capture the moment. It's a bit diva, I know.

Good Luck Everyone!

PS. I know the flash is on...ouch! :-)

What is Due This Week?

It is very important that you join the blog right away and start posting soon. The first assignment is to put a brief biography of yourself here on the blog and post a picture of yourself... not to worry though if you are the shy type... you can post your shadow, a distorted reflection or a just plain reflection... try to be a bit creative! The main issue you will constantly hear me harping on is to turn off your flash! I want each and every image you post for this class to be shot with natural, available light. Here are a couple of self portraits from the last time I taught this class online in Mod 3....I like Nikkenia's use of the fog on her shower door... she drew lines in it... Notice her flash is turned off! Mary just used a mirror in her hall.. notice that she forgot to turn off the date stamp on the camera and that she too turned off her flash! You'll be hearing me tell you almost daily to remember to keep your flash off.

In order to post to the blog, you need to join the blog. To do that you have to click on the link blogger sends you in an email to your Campus Cruiser email account. You will be prompted to create a log in with a password... the process takes all of 15 seconds. Don't worry about creating your own blog.... just join this one!

View the video I created on how to post to the class blog.

See you here soon!

Welcome!

Hi Everyone and welcome to the blog for the Mod 2, 2007 online digital photography class!

This class may be unlike any other class you have ever taken. You success is entirely driven by your shooting and creative activity. Weekly assignments are designed you get you to see and think more "photographically". There are no tests or papers due in this class.... rather, you will be creating an online portfolio of your work as you move from week to week. Quality AND quantity count. Keeping up with your work on a week to week basis also counts. Everything you need to complete this class successfully can be found in the class syllabus linked from the list of links on the right. Tuesday I'll post a step by step "What do I have to do this week"? list of things to do. Not to worry though! This class is designed with the beginner in mind and it IS supposed to fun and enriching... I am here to help you succeed.

Fall is a great time to be taking this class as the weather is great and the colors are still wonderful before winter sets in full time. You can post to the blog and your portfolio from any computer on the Internet from any where in the world. Looking forward to getting started with you...

-Jerry
